Verizon is part of an incredibly dynamic industry where customers depend on our products are always looking for the next big thing. Because the cloud business is undergoing vast changes on a continuous basis, we always need to refine development of our product portfolion in order stay ahead of customer demands.

The function of software development engineer within Verizon requires high skills in the global Microsoft .Net development stack and a good understanding of the Microsoft platform.

The individual will be responsible for the analysis and development of modules within the enterprise software development team; collaborate with architects, development teams, systems and business analysts, development managers to deliver on-time and in-budget releases that meet customer expectations to help Verizon realize significant attributable revenue, growth in the customer base and a stronger competitive and market position. The development role will also require the individual to maintain his/her technology knowledge and vision. The role requires a strong technical understanding of software development, best practices and enterprise application architecture.

You will be a member of a local software development team that develops and improves our Cloud platform as wel as software tools that make use of the platform in order to fill customer needs.

Overall responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test and implement new highly available and scalable software components in the core platform.
  • Assist in the analysis and development of high level procedures, tools and processes that support the existing toolsets.
  • Build and create proof of concepts on top of the latest frameworks, products and technologies.
  • Development of small supportive projects for the entire cloud stack: automation processes for example.
Requires a broad range of skills within a professional discipline to effectively perform routine to complex assignments; demands familiarity with principles, theories, concepts and technologies as well as applied knowledge of established procedures, policies and practices. Generally requires a BS degree, or equivalent, and 2-5 years experience in a related discipline

As part of executing the defined responsibilities, the Software Engineer must have the following skill set:

  • Have at least 2 years experience in .NET software development (C#)
  • Knowledge of the more common software development best practices and frameworks
  • A proven trackrecord of software development skills.
  • Skills in NoSql databases  is considered as an advantage
  • Excellent spoken and written knowledge of the English language.
  • Able to work in close co-operation with members of your team.
  • A fast learner.
Skills and competences
  • Technical skills: Experience in software development, especially Microsoft .Net 4.0/4.5. Experience with WCF. Knowledge of current software methodologies: Dependency Injection, IoC. Knowledge of ASP.NET MVC is considered as an advantage. Good knowledge of Html Javascript, JQuery, JSON and REST.
  • Graduation skills: Have a graduation level in IT or software engineering or equal by experience.
  • Language skills: Have excellent spoken and written knowledge of the English and Dutch language.
  • Competences: Problem analysis
